Aliaksandar Sazonau and Yauhen Vasileusky were accused of 'illegal actions in relation to privacy information and personal data' (Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 203-1), 'unlawful possession of computer information' (Part 1 of Art. 352), and 'abuse of power or official powers' (Part 2 of Art. 426 of the Criminal Code).

The former police officers Aliaksandar Sazonau and Yauhen Vasileusky were detained almost a year ago—on February 27, 2022, in Minsk. On March 1, 2022, both of them were sentenced to administrative arrest under Article 24.23 of the Code of Administrative Offenses ('Violation of the order of organizing or holding mass events'). The Pieršamajski District Court of Minsk sentenced Sazonau to 13 days of arrest, and Vasileusky to 15 days, for participating in a protest action against Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

On January 23, 2023, in a closed court session, the Ivacevičy District Court considered a criminal case against Sazonau and Vasileusky. The trial was conducted by the judge Vasil Aurusevich.

The court found Aliaksandar Sazonau guilty under Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 203-1, Part 1, Art. 352, and Part 2 of Art. 426 of the Criminal Code, and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment in a general security penal colony, a fine of BYN 18,500 (approx. USD 7,327), and deprivation of the right to hold government official positions in internal affairs bodies for 5 years.
