Andrei Liubetski is a maxillo-facial surgeon based in Minsk.
Liubetski was a volunteer near the Akrestsin detention center. He has four children. Andrei's wife Natallia Liubetskaya was forced to leave the country together with her children, after Belarusian state TV channels accused the woman of leaking "secret documents" to ex-police officer Ihar Makar.
Andrei Liubetski was detained on May 4, 2021. His apartment was searched and the detainee was charged under Part 2 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code (insulting the president).
At the end of March 2022 the Investigative Committee completed the investigation of the case against Andrei Liubetski. He was charged under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code (participation in actions that grossly violate public order); part 1 of article 130 of the Criminal Code (incitement to hatred); Article 369 of the Criminal Code (insulting a government official); Part 1 and 2 of Article 368 (Insulting the President).
On April 18, Judge Sviatlana Charapanava sentenced the doctor to five years of imprisonment in a general-security penal colony, thus satisfying the request of the prosecutor Zhanna Baranava.
On May 11, 2022, he was transferred to Mahiliou Prison No. 4.
On July 7, 2022, the KGB put Andrei on the list of "terrorists".
He was included in the list of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities.
In July 2024 it became known that Andrei was being held in a punishment cell (PKT), he was to serve two months there.
On June 26, 2024, in Babruisk, a case was considered to replace Andrei's detention regime with a prison regime. As a result, Andrei was transferred to Žodzina prison No. 8 until the end of his term.
