Dzmitry Kanapelka was detained on September 11, 2020 and charged under Part 2 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code over his alleged involvement in the events of August 9-12 in Minsk.

On June 10, 2021, Judge Sviatlana Bandarenka of the Maskoŭski District Court of Minsk sentenced Kanapelka to five years in a medium-security penal colony.
