Dzmitryi Stsiapanau was accused of 'creating an extremist formation or participating in it' (Part 1 of Art. 361-1 of the Criminal Code) for administering a Telegram chat room.

Stsiapanau was taken into custody before the trial. First, he was tried under "political" administrative articles, and then criminal proceedings against him began. The chat room, which he administered, was recognized as an "extremist organization" after his arrest.

On February 10, 2023, the Brest Regional Court, in a closed session, sentenced Stsiapanau to four years of imprisonment in a general security penal colony. The case was heard by Judge Andrei Leshchanka.
