Mikita Vaitsiuk was arrested on January 6, 2024. He was charged with violating Article 342 of the Criminal Code (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them).

He was arrested for his involvement in a protest action that took place on August 10, 2020 in Brest. At the time of that action, he was a minor.

On May 20, 2024, the Maskoŭski District Court of Brest handed down sentences to eight local residents for their participation in the August protest action under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order). Mikita Vaitsiuk, Vasil Aliakseyuk, Hleb Klimovich, Vital Varfalameyeu, Aliaksandr Tysevich, Yuliya Sharonava, Mikalai Nikitsiuk and Maksim Sobaleu were sentenced to imprisonment. The decision was made by Judge Yauhen Brehan.
