He, together with Dzmitry Rezanovich, Dzmitry Dubouski, and Siarhei Ramanau, was charged under several articles for setting fire to government officials’ vehicles, the building of the traffic police and the state committee of expertise in the Homieĺ region:

  • Part 2 of Article 289 (Act of terrorism);
  • Parts 2 and 4 of Article 295 (Illegal actions regarding firearms, ammunition and explosives).
  • Ihar Alinevich and Dzmitry Dubouski were also charged under Part 1 of Article 333-1 (Illegal movement across the border of prohibited substances, firearms, and explosives).

Immediately after the quarantine, Alinevich was placed in a punishment cell for 30 days, and then in a tighter regime cell.

On August 8, 2022, a trial was held to change the punishment level and transfer Alinevich to prison. The judge of the Mazyr district Valiantsina Novikava made the decision. For how long the political prisoner was transferred to the prison regime is still unknown.

Ihar Alinevich's mother informed on Facebook that in late September 2022, the political prisoner went on a hunger strike in protest against the actions of the prison administration in Žodzina: "His demands are quite specific and guaranteed by law, including the fact that his complaints are not sent to their destination. Both he and all of us understand that the country is not up to the law." Ihar Alinevich is regularly placed in a punishment cell.

He is deprived of phone calls and communications, including medical ones. He receives letters, but only from relatives and not all of them.
